Math Documents

To the right are important documents from the math curriculum department at Buncombe County Schools. Many of these are linked under specific grade tabs, but as a matter of importance are provided on the main page as well. Each document is linked as a PDF to the orange text.

K-12 Math Progression - Ever wonder what math looks like from Kindergarten to the Senior year? This document provides an overview of 13 years of mathematics. This document also discusses when math acceleration may begin and who it is best suited for.

Middle School Placement Rubric - This is the rubric and explanation used district wide to ensure students are placed in the most appropriately challenging math course beginning in 7th grade. Here is a powerpoint presentation handout that outlines the demand of middle school acceleration.

High School Options (COMING SOON) - Every student must obtain 4 high school math credits. This document and chart explore what that may look like in BCS.
